La shortlist dei Game Awards 2023 è stata resa nota ed è dominata da due giochi in particolare: Baldur’s Gate 3 e Alan Wake 2.
Entrambi i titoli sono in lizza per otto premi, tra cui Gioco dell’anno, Miglior direzione di gioco e Miglior narrazione.
Tra i candidati al premio per il miglior gioco indipendente figurano Cocoon, Dave the Diver, Dredge, Sea of Stars e Viewfinder.

Nintendo ha 15 nomination, Sony ne ha 13 e Xbox (che include Bethesda e ora Activision Blizzard) ne ha 10.
La categoria Miglior adattamento di quest’anno include le nomination per The Last of Us della HBO, che sembra un probabile vincitore, oltre a Castlevania: Nocturne di Netflix, la serie Twisted Metal e il film Gran Turismo di Sony, oltre a The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
